The turmoil in the Middle East has led to a drastic increase in the price of gas Worldwide, and the national average in the United States has reached $3.51 a gallon. The American Automobile Association (AAA) reported that the average gas price in Virginia hit $3.41 a gallon for regular. Compared to this time last year, gas prices have jumped up approximately 77 cents a gallon.

U.S. News reporter, Kurtzleben, recently published an article explaining America’s next possible move. The White House has responded to the nation’s rising concerns by considering tapping into the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This plan could ease the spike in gas prices.

AAA explained on Sunday that crude oil surpassed $100 a barrel, which caused the approximately 31-cent nation-wide rise in two weeks. Thehighestnational average America has seen was in July 2008 when gas prices rose to $4.11 a gallon, reported AAA.

On January 28th, The New York Times published an article to remind us how in the 1970’s one in four Americans carpooled. Nowadays, less than 12% of drivers share their personal vehicles. Vixens…if disco dances can still be recovered…can we make carpooling cool again?
